The Gasworks Site comprises 4 hectares of public land in the heart of North Fitzroy. The State Labor Government is proposing to sell the site to private developers. We are hosting a community forum to discuss how we can keep the Gasworks Site in public hands.
This is our community and together, we can stop our public asset from being privatised. Our public land could instead be used to showcase the very best in urban development including:
- Affordable and public housing;
- Vibrant community spaces and facilities;
- Generous green and open space;
- Low waste, zero emissions, low water; and
- Deliberative design that genuinely involves the community in planning.
This forum will allow community members to have their say, learn from experts and find out what they can do to stop the Gasworks site from being sold off. Kathleen Maltzahn, the Greens’ local state candidate, and Samantha Ratnam, the Greens’ State Leader will share the Greens’ vision for the Gasworks site.
Help us to letterbox the local streets to invite community members to the forum.
