Hi there,
On Wednesday February 17, at 6:30pm, we need you to help make history.
Come and join the campaign to win The Greens’ first ever lower house
seats at Federal and State general elections.
Here’s the breakdown: the seats of Melbourne (Federal), Richmond
(State) and Melbourne (State) all sit on a knife edge. If just one in
ten people who voted Labor last time switch their vote to Green,
Melbourne will make history.
Imagine being represented by MPs who are fully committed to a green
energy revolution, a low-carbon economy, to public education &
first-rate healthcare; to our vibrant arts, live music and creative
culture and to re-investing in public transport for our future.
Instead of more of the same, imagine powering up a renewable energy
economy right here in our own backyard – and firmly rejecting the
politics of fear and hysteria over asylum-seekers.
It’s achievable, it’s incredibly exciting and it’s starting now.
There are big plans, and countless ways for you to play a critical
part in these unique campaigns, whether or not you’ve ever been
involved in politics before.
Come along to Dante’s: 154 Gertrude St (cnr Napier St) in Fitzroy – at
6:30 on Wednesday, February 17.
RSVP to this address (makehistory@vic.greens.org.au).
There you’ll meet the candidates and fellow Melburnians, and get the
inside scoop on some of the most exciting campaigns in the nation. We
have a real chance of winning these seats, but the time to start is
now, not a few weeks before the election is called.
Everyone is welcome, so put the word out!
Feel free to pass this email on to anyone you think would like to
attend. Friends, family, new voters, people considering voting Green
for the first time – this event is open to anyone who believes
Melbourne deserves better, and wants to help make it happen (you don’t
have to live in the inner city). This event will be informal and
inclusive, but RSVPs are appreciated (makehistory@vic.greens.org.au).
We look forward to seeing you there!
Adam Bandt, candidate for Federal Melbourne
Kathleen Maltzahn, candidate for State Richmond
Brian Walters, candidate for State Melbourne
P.S. The big parties will outspend us 20 to one at these elections -
but more and more Melburnians are looking for a better way. Let’s do
this right.
