Described by Tasmania University political scientist Tony McCall as ”thSenator Christine Milnee dominant intellect in the Tasmanian Parliament while she was there”, and by ALP hard man Graham Richardson as “one tough lady”, Senator Christine Milne is a powerful advocate on climate change.

A parliamentarian for a decade and a half, in 1993, Senator Milne, then a Tasmanian MP, became the first female leader of a Tasmanian political party ever. At the next Federal election, she is up for re-election. Come and support her campaign (and mine) on November 12.

When: 6pm, 12 November (Christine will speak at 6.30)
Where: Kristian Pithie Gallery, 27 Gipps Street , Richmond, Victoria

How much: $50

RSVP: to kathleen.maltzahn@vic.greens.org.au

Christine is a fabulous speaker. Former diplomat Tony Kevin called her speech on climate change at the National Press Club last year “magisterial”. “She spelt out,” he wrote in Crikey, “in clearer terms than by any Australian politician to date … that human-induced climate change is not some remote and distant threat to polar bears and low-lying ocean atolls, but is causing clear and major present damage to countries like the United States and Australia”.

Come along and support two  Greens women in their elections.

“Who better than Australia’s women to stand up, demonstrate what can be done and lead the way to a happier, healthier and more prosperous Australia?” - Christine Milne
